New super bacterium doubles hydrogen gas production
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/04/100414083539.htm
ScienceDaily (2010-04-14) -- Hydrogen gas is today used primarily for manufacturing chemicals, but a bright future is predicted for it as a vehicle fuel in combination with fuel cells. In order to produce hydrogen gas in a way that is climate neutral, bacteria are added to forestry or household waste, using a method similar to biogas production. One problem with this production method is that hydrogen exchange is low, i.e. the raw materials generate little hydrogen gas. Researchers have studied a newly discovered bacterium that produces twice as much hydrogen gas as the bacteria currently used. The results show how, when and why the bacterium can perform its excellent work and increase the possibilities of competitive biological production of hydrogen gas.

Our Changing Climate -- Climatologists Forecast Completely New Climates
http://www.sciencedaily.com/videos/2007/0902-our_changing_climate.html
ScienceDaily () -- Geographers have projected temperature increases due to greenhouse gas emissions to reach a not-so-chilling conclusion: climate zones will shift and some climates will disappear completely by 2100. Tropical highlands and polar regions may be the first to disappear, and large swaths of the tropics and subtropics will reach even hotter temperatures. The study anticipates large climate changes worldwide.

Global Surface Temperature Was Second Warmest For September

ScienceDaily (2009-10-18) -- The combined global land and ocean surface temperature was the second warmest September on record, according to NOAA. Scientists also reported that the average land surface temperature for September was the second warmest on record, behind 2005. Additionally, the global ocean surface temperature was tied for the fifth warmest on record for September.

Weathercasters take on role of science educators; feel some uncertainty on issue of climate change

ScienceDaily (2010-03-29) -- In the largest and most representative survey of television weathercasters to date, two-thirds of weathercasters indicate they are interested in reporting on climate change, and many say they are already filling a role as an informal science educator.
